Appearance

Reginald is a standard AV500 and looks like a standard AV500. Red hair, green eyes. He prefers to stick to black shirts, ties, and trousers, and let the colours surrounding him do the work. He is a little surly, but enthusiastic and expressive. His movements seem pretty fluid and precise. Reginald can be quite bold and outspoken in his thoughts and forgets to consider how people might feel before he speaks, sometimes causing upset and not understanding why.

Backstory

Reginald had always had an interest in colours. Working in a paint shop, he’d been programmed and trained to mix bespoke ones. He’d always secretly enjoyed the ability to alter them, bit by bit, test them on paper, adjust them until they were precise to the needs of the customer. He sometimes looked wistfully at the colours in the interstitial phases of the creation process, enjoying them for a moment before working towards the end product.Deviancy had crept up on him in transit to one of the camps towards the end of the revolution. Having been taken in suddenly, he had contemplated fighting back, struggling to stay. By the time he realised the programming had shattered, and that the option was available to him to fight, he felt overwhelmed by the possibility and went along peacefully.He was freed with many other androids, and, having no place to go, he returned to the store, his owner smiled, showed him back to his position behind the counter, there was talk of freedom, a blur of processes over the next few days. He had his own identity, proof of such, in the name Reginald Bellini (a decision he made himself, guided by his former owner), and a personal bank account, before he’d even really realised what was happening.His owner retired a few months later, handing ownership of the shop to Reginald, though he still visited every now and then.Reginald never really took the time to process his deviation. He carried on with his work, mostly, though, with his owner gone, he found that learning how to test the new paints, was a step towards learning to paint; something he picked up at an extraordinary rate.Eventually, coerced by James, he began going to art classes and talking to people, thought he doesn't always find it easy to make friends alone. He is secretly fond of Leroy, though they have some kind of unspoken agreement to maintain an image of merely tolerating each other.Some time later his owner stopped visiting, then reappeared specifically to stab his partner. He has never understood why this happened, and outside of a stray sighting being reported to the police, he then went into hiding for some considerable time, before attacking again, abducting Reginald's partner and resetting him. As a result Reginald is going through a lot of guilt regarding the idolatisation he did, the philosophies he inherited, and fond memories he has of his owner, and is currently going through a process of inner-conflict as he analyses these things and tries to shed the psychological damage his owner unwittingly did to him.During this, Reginald has managed to connect romantically with two other partners; Markus, and Connor. Where James tended to adapt to whatever quirks he had, he's now having to learn what is expected of him within a relationship with others.
